Early Writing
While I would be the first to admit my early writing was bad, I also feel a little impressed with myself, having seemingly stumbled onto an entire subgenre of writing without knowing such a thing existed. This would have been before the internet was really ‘a thing’ and definitely before any of the major Fanfiction sites were created.
Yet here I was, not even not even ten years old, writing bad fanfiction about the video games I wanted to play but couldn’t due to my TV-less, hippy household. My portfolio included a gritty, action movie style Mario Brothers story, a Warhammer 40k knock-off, which I think I called ‘200,000KPH’, and a teenage Mortal Kombat-esque Martial arts tournament story where all the characters were named after Japanese foods. I am not making any of these up.
Though these were not stories worth digging up, they still stand in my mind as the first steps on a very interesting journey, and soon grew into my imminent decision to write a proper book.
